NIS mission

NIS has the mission to meet the information needs of all categories of users of statistical data and information by collecting, producing and disseminating data in accordance with the Law on the Organization and Functioning of Official Statistics in Romania. (EC) No 226/2009, Regulation (EC) No. No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2009 on European Statistics and the European Statistics Code of Practice necessary for substantiating decisions on economic and social development of the country and for the knowledge and information of public opinion on the realities of Romanian society.

NIS vision

NIS, as the main producer of official statistical data, responsible for the coordination of all activities at national level regarding the development, development and dissemination of European statistics, is oriented towards achieving in a near future some functional methodological and technical performances recognized on domestic and international plan, at a level comparable to the performances of the most advanced national statistical institutes in the EU Member States.

Conferinţa DGINS 2018, la Bucureşti

România va găzdui în acest an unul dintre cele mai importante evenimente ale statisticii europene, Conferinţa Directorilor Gene­rali ai Institutelor Naţionale de Statistică (DGINS).

Evenimentul se va desfăşura la Bucureşti în perioada 10-12 octombrie 2018.

Conferinţa DGINS se desfăşoară anual într-una dintre ţările care fac parte din Sistemul Statistic European, iar printre participanţi se numără  conducătorii institutelor naţionale de statistică din Europa, reprezentanţi ai EUROSTAT, ai Comisiei Europene, ai Comisiei Economice ONU pentru Europa, ai Organizaţiei pentru Cooperare Economică şi Dezvoltare etc. Lucrările conferinţei sunt prezidate de preşedintele institutului ţării gazdă.

În cadrul lucrărilor Conferinţei DGINS se discută subiecte legate de implementarea programelor statistice europene, de metodele şi procesele de elaborare ale statisticilor comunitare.

Conform unui document adoptat în anul 2000, obiectivele specifice al Conferinţei DGINS sunt:

  • organizarea şi gestionarea activităţii Sistemului Statistic European (SSE);
  • identificarea şi  discutarea viitoarelor cerinţe de date pentru statistică într-un context strategic;
  • urmărirea obiectivelor prioritare  precum şi planul ce urmăreşte îndeplinirea acestora;
  • prezentarea sistemului statistic  naţional.

Prima Conferinţă DGINS s-a des­­­f­ă­şurat în anul 1953 la Luxemburg.
